We believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
of everything we can see and everything we cannot see.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father —
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God.
He was not created,
but comes from the very being of the Father.
Through Him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation,
He came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit,
He took on human nature and was born of the virgin Mary.
He became truly human.
For our sake, He was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
He suffered and was buried.
On the third day, He rose again,
as the Scriptures said He would.
He went up into heaven
and now sits at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and His kingdom will never end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord and giver of life,
who comes from the Father (and the Son),
and who together with the Father and the Son
is worshiped and glorified.
He is the one who spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
